Public Buses

For those pupils that do not wish to use the free bus service, or for those occasions when there is no bus running, pupils are kept behind for after-school detentions, or pupils are on altered timetable, there are a number of public buses, frequently running between Illingworth and Halifax Town Centre.

Students aged 11-16 need to have a Young Person’s Photocard which entitles them to half-fare travel anywhere in West Yorkshire and are available from your local bus station Travel Centre.

From Wednesday 1st October 2014, paper young Person’s PhotoCards will no longer be valid and you may be charged full-fare. To continue paying half-fare, get a new SMART Young Person’s PhotoCard.

Apply online at www.wymetro.com/TicketsandPasses (link is external)

You will need:

  • A passport-quality colour photo, saved to your computer
  • A valid passport
  • An email address

If you don’t have a valid passport, go to your local bus station Travel Centre with your birth certificate and your parent/guardian.
