Sanctions

Students/Pupils are given responsibility for their own behaviour through a series of behavioural choices and are helped and encouraged to think about alternatives for dealing with problems.

All inappropriate behaviour is challenged by staff, as quickly as possible, using an assertive but non-confrontational approach

Staff utilise a staged range of low, medium and high level corrective strategies depending on behaviour.

 Sanctions are applied when;

  • an individual refuses to follow school rules and conform
  • the behaviour of an individual or group is preventing the learning of others or the good order of the classroom or school.
  • the behaviour of an individual or group is abusive to other members of the school community
  • the behaviour of an individual or group may cause harm or puts other members of the school community at risk
  • an individual or group damages property
  • a pupil/student breaks the law

The school uses a whole range of sanctions to help pupils improve their behaviour and understand the consequences of their actions, these include;

  • Repair & Rebuild
  • Loss of break/time at lunch
  • 10/30/60 minute detentions after school (exceptional circumstances 2 additional hours)
  • Time in Isolation
  • Time in Inclusion
  • Alternative Timetable
  • Fixed/Permanent Exclusions
  • Paying for damage to school property
